JOHN FREEBORN

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of our friend and fellow Tiger.

John passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday.

A fitting tribute to this fine and brave gentleman will appear in the Memoriam pages in due course.

RIP John

See Memoriam pages.

You may have noticed that some old news letters are missing and some in HTML format are difficult to read and include private contact details.

Bob Cossey has started the long process of re writing and editing, whilst I have the task of rearranging the pages and publishing.

This process will of course take time ,so we commence with a republished  Tiger News 31.

Any items you feel should be removed from these old news letters, can be carried out by contacting Bob or myself.

Remembering our brave Pilots and all the back-up crews who ensured our freedom.

 The BATTLE OF BRITAIN

70 Years

To celebrate both the completion of the reconstruction of the ex-RAF Wattisham Q-Shed, and the 50th Anniversary of the English Electric Lightning in Squadron service, a gathering of ex Lightning guys along with a double reheat fast taxi run took place at Bruntingthorpe Airfield, Leics, on Saturday 24th July.

See how many you can recognise in the photo.

The 'Eagle Eyed' amongst you will have noticed the new SEARCH facility on the Home Page.

At the last reunion, I made a commitment to bring this to fruition, so here it is.

I have included two options, one of which (by default) allows you to search the entire 74 Squadron site, whilst the other is a standard Google search facility ,but from within our site. This will be of huge benefit to researchers.

I guarantee you will play with this for hours. Just type literally anything into the search box ,and if it is somewhere hidden away on the site, it WILL be found. Try typing your own name--------Have Fun

MEDICAL MATTERS

I have made some changes to my articles relating to Prostate Problems.

Chapter 7 has been changed and a further Chapter 8 added to reflect 'MY STORY' and challenge with this disease.

I would strongly urge all men to read these articles carefully, especially if diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and before embarking upon a treatment regime.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the most wonderful fighter aircraft ever built, entering operational service with 74 (Tiger) Squadron at RAF Coltishall .The history of the English Electric Lightning may be found by clicking on the link below.
